Dempsey is an associate lawyer with a practice focused on civil litigation and family law. He is committed to providing cost-effective dispute resolution services to help clients achieve their goals efficiently. Dempsey focuses on finding common ground and working collaboratively to resolve or prevent disputes whenever possible.
When collaboration is not feasible, Dempsey vigorously advocates for his clients’ interests. He has represented both corporate and individual clients in the Provincial and Supreme Court of British Columbia in civil litigation matters, as well as before administrative tribunals such as the Residential Tenancy Branch, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, and the Civil Resolution Tribunal. His experience includes obtaining common law restraining orders, drafting pleadings for claims involving breach of contract, trespass, conversion, extortion, harassment and unjust enrichment, and negotiating the release of commercial real estate deposits through indemnity agreements.
In family law, Dempsey drafts marriage and separation agreements that address property division, spousal support, parenting time, decision-making responsibilities, and child support. He has represented clients in both the Provincial and Supreme Court of British Columbia on family matters, pursuing interim court orders to stabilize disrupted parenting schedules and court-ordered property sales to obtain interim distributions for funding otherwise unaffordable litigation.
Beyond legal work, Dempsey is dedicated to community service and currently serves as president of the Chilliwack and District Bar Association.
