Episode 10 | Ihor Verys

Join us for an in depth conversation with Ihor Verys a Ukrainian-Canadian ultramarathon runner based in Chilliwack, B.C., who has made waves in the ultra running world. He started his ultrarunning career in 2021 and has quickly risen to prominence, winning almost every race he has entered. Notably, Verys recently made headlines for being the first finisher of the notoriously tough 2024 Barkley Marathons, completing the race in just under 59 hours, a feat that only a handful of people have achieved in the event’s history.

He is known for his endurance and mental fortitude, often racing to push his limits and explore new trails rather than just aiming for a podium finish. Verys is also passionate about raising awareness for Ukraine, often using his platform to speak about the ongoing war and encourage support for his home country. He trains in the mountainous terrains around Chilliwack, taking on extensive vertical climbs that help prepare him for the extreme conditions of ultrarunning.
