Patrick Hergott

I joined ZVM as a summer student in 2021 and returned to complete my articles in 2022. When I first joined ZVM the firm had 5 lawyers and just two years later it’s already tripled in size. I’m now joining the team as an associate and am excited to grow alongside the firm.

I was raised on a hobby farm in Greendale and my parents still live there. Upon graduating high school I went to UFV for my undergraduate degree, after which I moved to Nova Scotia for grad school. I quickly learned that while the Maritimes are beautiful and the people are friendly, what counts as a ‘mountain’ there is about half the size of Little Mountain in Chilliwack. I returned home to BC to complete my JD at the University of Victoria, where I was reminded that the “Beautiful British Columbia” emblazoned on our license plates is not just a saying. After completing my JD I moved home to Chilliwack to join ZVM and begin my legal career.

Reading and learning have long been passions of mine, and law school helped me tether those interests to the tangible goal of helping clients. ZVM has expedited this learning process, as our lawyers and staff are not just knowledgeable but committed to supporting each other. Since joining ZVM I have gained experience in several areas of law, including personal injury, employment, civil, wills and estates, strata, and corporate law.

If I’m not at the office, odds are that I’m watching sports, reading something fun, or spending time with my family.
