I was honoured to join the Employment Law team in Zacharias Vickers McCann’s Victoria office in May 2024 after completing my law degree at UVic and articles at a Victoria firm. I was born and raised mainly in Victoria, with stints in Prince George, Maple Ridge, and Clinton.
My path to law has been circuitous, with forays into professional opera singing and school teaching before passing the bar. I pursued postsecondary studies in Vocal Performance in Nova Scotia, Montréal, and Vienna, spending my academic holidays working as a singing waitress at Italian restaurants and remote fishing lodges. After singing professionally at opera houses and churches in Europe for a few years, I rejoined the world of academia and taught K-12 French and Music in Scotland, Ontario, and Victoria. Attempting to atone for my jet-setting lifestyle, I studied the Human Dimensions of Climate Change briefly at the University of Victoria, where I assisted with the development of UVic’s Climate & Sustainability Action Plan. My love of learning and my desire for challenge led me to Employment Law, which is a perfect fit, given the number of jobs I have had.
During law school at UVic, I was honoured to work with a First Nations client to advocate a public interest issue through the Environmental Law Clinic, assist with a 400+ day Aboriginal Rights and Title mega-trial during my co-op term with the Department of Justice, and win the Victoria Bar Association’s Softball Tournament as an unlikely member of UVic Law’s softball team.
In my spare time, I enjoy treading the boards of community theatre, choral singing, painting watercolours, and petting other people’s dogs.
I am excited to be part of this growing firm, and I look forward to serving Zacharias Vickers McCann’s clients around the province with care, competence, commitment, and collaboration.
