Nicolas Rehberg-Besler

Associate

I am an Associate Lawyer at Zacharias Vickers McCann LLP, bringing over five years of experience in corporate/commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, construction projects, and commercial lending. Additionally, I work in the areas of real estate development and conveyancing, employment law, and wills and estates. Importantly, I have a license to practice law in both Alberta and British Columbia, which allows for a unique position where I can handle cross-provincial matters.

In my corporate and commercial practice, I advise clients on a range of matters including mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, construction projects, and commercial lending. I have experience working with clients in various industries such as manufacturing, construction, engineering and technology, and have a strong track record of negotiating complex deals and delivering favorable outcomes for my clients. In my commercial lending practice, I represent both private and institutional lenders as well as borrowers.

In my employment practice, I advise both employers and employees on a variety of issues such as wrongful dismissal, human rights, employment standards, and termination. While my practice in this area focuses on proactive measures to avoid disputes, I have experience guiding clients through the dispute resolution process and have a keen understanding of the legal and practical considerations involved in employment matters.

In my wills and estates practice, I advise clients on estate planning matters, including drafting wills and powers of attorney, establishing trusts, and administering estates. I enjoy working with clients to develop customized estate plans that meet their unique needs.

Before pursuing a legal career, I earned a Master of Science degree in Biological Sciences, where I conducted research and published several academic papers. During law school at the University of Alberta, I collaborated with a professor to publish an article about Emergency Protection Orders under Canada's Species-at-Risk legislation. With my diverse background and passion for the law, I bring a unique perspective to my legal practice, delivering exceptional service to clients.

In my free time, I enjoy staying active through various sports such as soccer, golf, skiing, hiking in the mountains, and cheering on the Edmonton Oilers.
